Specific Bowls Used In Our Setup

Bowls

I love the "escape-proof" bowls that are available at either Rainbow Mealworms or Superior Shipping (believe they are the same bowl offered by both companies).

We use the "small" bowl, so we will only be referencing those as it comes to price comparisons. Through Superior Shipping, purchasing their 50ct for 10.95 amounts to .22 cents each. For the same bowl at Rainbow Mealworm, it's .50 cents each.

While definitely a fair price regardless of which you choose, I still wanted something that was much more cost-effective... considering the frequency in which our little leos will defecate in their bowls. I do not like to scrub flimsy plastic bowls in an effort to salvage them and reuse them. I wanted something that in the event they did mess the bowls, I could simply toss them.  At .22 or .50 a bowl, it can add up pretty quickly. Additionally, while the small bowls currently offered work very well for juvenile and adult leos, it wasn't ideal for hatchlings.

After researching many sites for several weeks, and looking at the details of each product that might have met our needs, we settled on the following items that we purchased from a single source:  Webstaurant.Com

Hatchling Setup

For our hatchling setup, we use a combination of the Choice PET Plastic Lid for 0.5 to 1.25 oz. Souffle Cup and the Dart Conex Complements 050PC 0.5 oz. Translucent Plastic Souffle / Portion Cup for the "escape-proof" worm bowl (.03 cents each cup/lid combo). We use three of these bowls in the hatchling tubs. Only one will have the lid (with the center cut out), as the "escape-proof" worm bowl, and the other two cups will not have lids as they are used for water bowls, and calcium/supplement bowls (.02 cents each).

Juvenile Setup

For our juvenile setup, once the leos have reached 30+ grams, they are then "upgraded" to the following for the "escape-proof" worm bowls... Solo SCCDSS2 2.5 oz. Black Wide Sauce / Portion Cup and the Solo SCCLDSS23 Wide Sauce / Portion Cup Snaptight Lid (total of .10 cents each cup/lid combo) - center cut out of the lid.
Dart Conex Complements 150PC 1.5 oz. Translucent Plastic Souffle / Portion Cup for their water bowls (.01 cents each).
Dart Conex Complements 050PC 0.5 oz. Translucent Plastic Souffle / Portion Cup, used for the calcium/supplement bowls (.02 cents each).

Adult Setup

For our adult setup, we continue using the same bowl and lid combination for the "escape-proof" worm bowl, we used in our juvenile setup (described above), however, we upgrade the calcium/supplement bowl to the Solo SCCDSS2 2.5 oz. Black Wide Sauce / Portion Cup - no lid (.04 cents each), and also upgrade the water bowl to the Solo SCC DSS5 5.5 oz. Black Wide Sauce / Portion Cup (.06 cents each).

See comments for videos of the worm bowls, showing their effectiveness.

Note this does require a little bit of DIY effort, as you will need to use a razor blade to cut out the center of the lids used for the "escape-proof" worm bowls.a and Sons Leopard Geckos
